Logistics group Geodis has set up a 50:50 joint-venture company with French waste services group SITA to develop end-to-end solutions for managing end-of-life products.
"SITA and Geodis have pooled their expertise and networks to create an entity that specialises in waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and automotive products," Geodis said.
SITA and Geodis plan to unite their European leadership (in waste processing and recovery and logistics, respectively) and resources from their sites in France and Europe. They will also pool their expertise in four key areas: strategic project and operations management; logistics (including collection, consolidation and sorting, forwarding); processing and marketing.
The name of the 50-50 joint venture has yet to be disclosed.
Meanwhile, Geodis has been chosen by the European Recycling Platform (ERP), to design, set up and coordinate its recycling operations in France, UK, Ireland, Spain and Portugal.
