Q: What is your product?

Think Ambient is the exclusive distributor of ClingZ material, known as Clings in the UK and Ireland.

Clings is a poster made from a polypropylene film that is embedded with an electrostatic charge and laminated on to a recyclable paper backer, which is also printable.

Q: How does it work?

Clings does just that: it clings to any surface through electrostatic charge. This makes the material easy to use, remove, reposition and is damage-free. Fixants such as tape, tacks or adhesives are not required.

In addition to sticking to any surface - including brick, glass, wallpaper, plaster, wood and plastic - Clings also sticks on the printed and unprinted side. This makes the posters great for use on fridges, windows, walls and furniture.

Q: Where would it ideally be used?

A range of marketing and communications applications. This includes signage, marketing, internal communications and memorable direct mail.

For the recycling and waste management industry, Clings is a unique tool for informing households about how and when to recycle waste.

Q: How is it different?

Clings has a wider application than any other material that is currently used to convey waste management information.

In focus groups, Clings received wider praise when compared with other options. As they can be used on any surface, compliance is greatly increased. Recipients also enjoy how easy the material

is to apply.

Q: What benefits does it offer?

Clings is easy to use, offers flexible applications and encourages increased compliance with recipients.

It is also repositionable and easy to remove.

Q: Where has it been used?

In March and April 2012, Clings was used by Cheshire West and Chester Council as part of its resident engagement activity. A quick-start guide to new recycling and waste management procedures was printed on Clings and the paper backer, and then distributed within an information pack to residents.

Q: Cost?

This depends on many variables such as method of print, size, quantity, shape, number of designs and so on. The company provides bespoke quotes as requested, which are supplied within an hour or two.

It is able to supply the finished printed Clings and the raw material to specialist print suppliers. Due to the unique properties of the material, it is a challenging substance to print on so the company uses its own certified, experienced printers and is able to certify additional print suppliers.

Clings was launched to the recycling and waste management industry at RWM 2012. But Think Ambient has been distributing Clings in the UK and throughout Europe for seven years. Until now, it has worked mainly within the advertising industry, including work for primary care trusts, councils and non-governmental organisations.
