Gold medal for recycling

The impressive recycling rate at the Olympic Games will improve Greeces performance for years to come, according to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Around 350 tonnes of paper and 450 tonnes of plastic has been collected from 20,000 recycling bins placed in Games venues across Athens.

And IOC environmental advisory Olay Myrholt said: Recycling is the product of good programming and serious effort to implement waste management.

This will without doubt leave a legacy for Greece after the Olympic Games.
