More than 2,500 households in multistorey estates are receiving weekly recyclables collections from their doorsteps for a 12-month trial that started this month. The London Borough of Camden has given out green boxes for paper, cardboard, glass, cans, textiles and plastics. The authority reckons it missed its 2003/4 recycling target of 22% by around two percentage points and identified housing estates as an area for improvement.
