Home 'Green' Home: EPA launches new programme

Irelands Environmental Protection Agency has launched a Green Home programme to raise environmental awareness and support sustainable actions among householders and community groups.

The EPA has launched the programme in partnership with An Taisce, a conservation charity that protects Irelands heritage.

The Green Home agenda focuses on waste reduction, energy efficiency in the home, water conservation and the promotion of sustainable travel. Householders will receive information and advice to help them make informed decisions and take actions that will help the environment, while also reducing costs in the home.

EPA director general Dr. Mary Kelly said: The EPA is delighted to assist An Taisce in the development of the Green Home programme through the funding under the National Waste Prevention Programme. Through participation in this programme communities are being strengthened as they work together to protect their environment.
