Impax director joins WIP

Impax Group senior director in corporate finance Melville Haggard has joined Defra's Waste Implementation Programme (WIP) on a one-year secondment, starting last week.

Impax Group provides financial services within the environmental markets sector, particularly waste management, water treatment and alternative energy.

Haggard, who has worked with a range of clients in the energy and waste sectors, will concentrate on raising the profile of waste and disposal projects in the banking and investment sector.

He said: "The challenge is to help the construction, equipment supply and waste management practitioners, supported by a variety of financing routes, to configure products that enable Local Authorities to implement their waste strategies in a timely and cost effective manner."

WIP is expanding its programme so that it can secure the necessary investment and development to enable the UK to meet its obligations under the European Landfill Directive in 2010 and beyond.
