IN PICTURES: MRW visits notorius Waste4Fuel site

Browse this selection of pictures from MRW’s recent visit to the Waste4Fuel site in Orpington, Kent.

At its height, the site was estimated to contain 12,000 tonnes of waste, of which the Environment Agency (EA) has committed to removing 2,500.

Waste4Fuel has gone into a voluntary arrangement to pay off its creditors, leaving questions about who will foot the bill for clearing the remaining rubbish.

The EA has come under fire from residents and MPs over the way it has handled the saga, with new environment secretary Liz Truss involved in what happens next and how it can be stopped from happening again.
