Innovative online tool launched for construction waste recovery

The Waste & Resources Action Programme has launched an innovative new tool, allowing materials recycling operators and waste management contractors to track recovery rates.

Aimed at those working in the construction industry and committed to halving waste to landfill, the Site Specific Waste Analysis Tool enables firms to record each consignment of construction, demolition and excavation waste processed at their facilities.

WRAP programme manager for materials recycling Mike Falconer Hall said: The recycling industry is undergoing a transformation. Contractors are now offering ever increasing levels of consultancy to their clients, offering professional guidance as to the most efficient way to manage resources and recover materials.

Alongside this, a series of model contractual clauses have also been drawn up to demonstrate to construction clients that the waste contractors they work with are committed to good practice, and have transparent and auditable waste recovery rates.
