International acquisition boosts south Wales CRT plant

Centillion Environment & Recycling has announced that it will buy a US-based electronic waste recycler Metech, which will boost services from its UK plant in south Wales. The company has a cathode ray tube plant in Hirwaun, South Wales, while its head quarters are in Singapore. Chairman Eddie Chng said: The US$22 million acquisition will give Centillion a foothold in the US, which is the only major e-waste recycling market it does not already have a presence in. Metech president Sam Advani said: This acquisition illustrates Centillions aspirations and enhances the UK companys ability to service its multinational customers. Chng added: [The US] is an important market for us in terms of how it will accelerate our growth strategy. Its the worlds largest market for e-waste recycling, pro-environmental recycling laws enacted by certain states have created a market for us. Metec operates recycling plants in Massachusetts and California as well as facilities in Malaysia and Thailand. Centillion will also open a closed loop recycling and refining facility in Wuxi, China this year.
