Irish drones open up site access

The use of drones is being offered by an environmental and waste consultant in Ireland for clients to capture real-time surveillance of sites.

SLR Consulting Ireland says drones offer cost and time savings over traditional surveying methods and footage gathered could be used to evaluate events, such as flooding or landslips.

Company principal Peter Kinghan, said: “[Drones] can produce high resolution aerial photos and maps allowing us to provide up-to-date pictures of conditions of a site and surrounding lands, including detailed information of previously inaccessible areas.”

Use of commercial drones in the UK is regulated by the Civil Aviation Authority.
