Jennie Price to leave WRAP

Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP) chief executive Jennie Price will be leaving the organisation at the end of March 2007 to become chief executive officer of Sport England.

Price has led WRAP since it was established in 2000, seeing it through two successful business plan periods.

WRAP chairman Vic Cocker said: I would like to congratulate Jennie on this new appointment and we wish her every success in this important and challenging new role.

Jennie has provided the strategic leadership and vision to put WRAPs resource efficiency work firmly on the national environmental agenda and to fulfil the requirements of a wide range of stakeholders. During the past three years, we have seen a steep increase in the UKs recycling performance and the level of public engagement, and her energy and commitment to the sector will be missed.

The Board of WRAP has started the recruitment process for a new CEO to build on the capabilities and skills of the organisation and to develop it further to tackle the new environmental challenges facing the waste and recycling sector.
