Lancashire County Council has reopened a major recycling centre after a multi million pound refurbishment.
The Farington facility at Flensburg Way was closed six months ago with a temporary centre operating at thenearby Lancashire Business Park while work was done to make the original facility more user friendly.
A council spokesman said: “It was a traditional style HWRC which had to close every time skips were changed over. Now it has been modernised and has a split level and you don’t have to walk up stairs with waste.”
The council also hopes the new layout with improve traffic congestion at the site.
The revamped centre opened today to help with post-holiday recycling, according to the council.
