LARAC and Argos launch catalogue recycling campaign

To coincide with the publication of its new catalogue Argos has launched a press campaign with the Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee (LARAC) to encourage customers to recycle their old catalogues.

The latest Argos catalogue was published 17 January and Argos has paid for editorial on the LARAC website to publicise the fact that customers should be encouraged to dispose of the catalogues at the kerbside, local recycling centre or nearest Argos store.

The firm carried out a similar campaign last July (see MRW story).

Argos corporate responsibility manager Laurence Singer said: We want to keep hammering home the message for customers to recycle their catalogues so they dont go to landfill. I hope with this initiative the message gets across.

Singer added that the typical Argos catalogue weighs 2kg each and should provide a decent contribution to recycling rates and revenues!

There are more than 36 million catalogues in circulation each year and 20% of its paper content is recycled.
