Launch of environmental lobby group welcomed

High-level lobby group the Aldersgate Group, aimed at proving to Government that environmental protection is crucial to the success of the UK’s economic future, was launched last week.

It brings together a broad range of players including the Environment Agency, Friends of the Earth, United Utilities and SITA UK.

The group has published a research report entitled ‘Green Foundations: Better regulations and a healthy environment for growth and jobs’, which argues long term economic success can only be achieved with the sustainable use of natural resources.

Its launch has been welcomed by the Environmental Industries Commission (EIC). Chairman Adrian Wilkes said: “EIC looks forward to working with our coalition partners to ensure future Government policy is not distorted by scare-mongering lobbyists by parts of mainstream industry.”
