The Brussels-based association EucoLight says it will give the industry a voice in Europe and will work to enhance the regulatory framework for lighting waste.

It will also offer guidance for members on light recycling, which is one of the largest WEEE sectors on the continent.

The body was founded by the UK’s Recolight and compliance schemes in Spain, Italy and Denmark. Compliance schemes from 15 member states have applied to join the organisation.

Nigel Harvey

Nigel Harvey, chief executive of Recolight and EucoLight board member, said: “There are a number of changes to WEEE being considered at a European level.

“EucoLight will work to ensure that those changes are appropriate for the lighting industry.

“I am delighted to be on the board and to support the ongoing work of the lighting industry at a European level.”
