A new shadow environment secretary has been announced in the Labour reshuffle.
Maria Eagle, formerly the shadow transport secretary, becomes the environment shadow in a swap with Mary Creagh, who moves to transport.
Creagh had been shadow environment secretary since 2010.
Thanks to @marycreagh_mp for all her work shadowing Defra. Looking forward to taking up the challenge of this new role.

In June, Creagh called on the Government to provide more certainty over its waste management policies to encourage investment in the waste and resource industry.
At the start of the year, she outlined Labour’s ideas for food waste policy, including a ban on food waste, which has recently been reiterated. Last year, she said a Labour government would “disincentivise” recovered material exports.
In 2011, Creagh called on the coalition Government to raise the UK recycling target to 70% by 2025, claiming it would help create an extra 50,000 jobs.
