Markets - Weekly Prices Update - 18 March 2016

MRW’s regular reporting of movements in the markets for secondary materials

Summary

PRN paper and wood prices declined by about £0.66 and £2 per tonne, to £1.10 and £5 per tonne respectivelly, while mixed energy recovery remained unchanged. Aluminium PRN prices declined £12 per tonne while steel picked up £2 per tonne. Plastics, aggregate glass and remelt glass all fell by £1 per tonne.

All high value metals prices declined with the exception of palladium which rose £0.24 per gramme to £12.72 per gramme.

Secondary copper and brass prices surged following an increase in their respective primary metals due to the weaker dollar. Copper dry bright wire went up £190 per tonne to £2,700 per tonne and greasy bright wire surged £100 per tonne to about £2,550 per tonne. Mixed brass scrap prices increased £60 per tonne to about £1,650 per tonne.

Aluminium and nickel prices were relatively stable.
