Merseyside signs Mouchel Parkman for advice

Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority (MWDA) has named Mouchel Parkman as planning advisor to undertake the domestic waste disposal functions for local authorities across Merseyside.

The contract, which runs from August 2005 until spring 2008, is one of the largest planning advisory assignments let by a waste disposal authority to date.

Mouchel Parkman will advise MWDA in potential new waste sites that will be needed to help it achieve its recycling and recovery targets, undertake Environmental Impact Assessments and submit and negotiate planning applications.

It is expected that the contract will involve the development or redevelopment of waste management facilities for recycling, recovery, composting and waste treatment.

MWDA director Carl Beer said: "The authority is entering an important and challenging time in the delivery of the Joint Municipal Waste Management Strategy for Merseyside.

"Working with our partners including Mouchel Parkman we want to ensure that we have the best advice and information available."

MWDA undertakes the waste disposal functions for the five local authorities in Merseyside. These are Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral.
