Metso buys US firm

Metso has acquired Bulk Equipment Systems and Technologies (BEST) from a group of private investors for around £6.1 million (E9m). The Cleveland, Ohio-based company is a technology provider to the North American metal recycling market.

BEST employs 40 people and had sales of around £5.5m (E8m) in 2006. It supplies shredder downstream equipment, as well as process control and optimisation technologies in North America.

Metso's offering not only in North America, but also in Asia and Europe, it said.

Metso is a global engineering and technology corporation with 2006 net sales of approximately £3.4 billion (E5bn). Its 25,500 employees in more than 50 countries serve customers in industries including pulp and paper, rock and minerals processing and energy.
