New product could revolutionise waste collections

Recwaste has taken delivery of the first batch of a product which could revolutionise waste collection in the UK.

The new spherical bottom waste container can be used on any existing bin lifting vehicles and manufacturer Henkel GmbH believes it will cut costs and emptying times considerably.

Recwaste director David Osborne said: “With the majority of bins, you have to shake more to get the waste out. But because these are spherical, nothing lodges, meaning it is ideal for all types of household waste, sludge and restaurant waste.”

The product which will be available in both 140 litre and 240 litre sizes has proved massively successful on the continent with its residue-free emptying, and will be distributed in the UK by Recwaste.

Osborne added: “We have received our first delivery of 1,000 bins and are tendering now with councils. Because of its ability to empty bins 20% faster, I envisage it being very popular with stores and DIY chains.”

The bin is manufactured using only environmentally-friendly materials and its easy handling and durable mechanics make it safer and more hygienic with no ‘dirt traps’ in the container.
