The facility will have a 120,000 tonne capacity which will generate 9.4 MW of electricity annually enough to power 20,000 homes.
SLR Consulting assisted BioGen in preparing the environmental impact assessment.
Renewable energy firm BioGen Powers chief executive Christian Reeve said: SLR delivered both in terms of pace and professionalism. Our success here at Doncaster, where there was a fair amount of public concern, was due to the quality of the overall application and the skills of our own planning team working in conjunction with SLR.
We have recently received planning permission for other plants in Barry and Newport, and have just instructed SLR to prepare an environmental impact assessment for a new energy recovery facility in Northern Ireland.
Able to accept residual, commercial and industrial waste, the plant uses Energos technology, which specialises in providing small scale energy-from-waste plants.
BioGen hopes to build and operate around 12 UK ERFs with a combined capacity to treat over one million tonnes of waste and produce more than 100MW of electricity each year.
