Post-use PVC recycling set to grow

The amount of post-use PVC that is recycled in Europe is set to greatly increase thanks to a new dedicated organisation.

Recovinyl, with funding from the Vinyl 2010 initiative of the European PVC Industry is targeting four regions for initial implementation of its system- Germany, France, Benelux and the UK.

After analysing the barriers to PVC recycling across Europe, it has concluded that there is adequate capacity to recycle post-use PVC but the low cost of landfill and the distributed nature of the waste stream makes it unattractive to segregate and collect.
A

xion Recycling director Roger Morton, the UK agent for the Recovinyl initiative will be discussing the key aspects of recycling at Glassex 2006- the UK’s only dedicated event for the window, door and conservatory industries.
