Precompliance industry swells

Low-cost packaging compliance scheme Budget Pack has launched a precompliance scheme for the Waste Electrical Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive.

The firms Entry Scheme will help companies understand the forthcoming electroscrap law and how it will affect them.

There is uncertainty as to how the WEEE Directive will be made to work in the UK, and Budget Pack has joined Valpak in using its packaging experience to help obligated firms.

A Budget Pack spokesman said: Many companies have not fully considered the way in which they handle electrical equipment.

The lead times involved in making effective changes to align themselves with this legislation can be significant and will affect many company policies on supply, manufacture, design and procurement.
