Precycle gets BBC Box

Recycling company Precycle in Reading was the final destination for the BBC Box a project that tracked a 40 foot shipping container as it moved around the globe.

The idea of the BBC Box was to tell the story of international trade and globalisation on BBC News on television, radio and online.

The container has now been filled with books by Precycle and is being sent to Help A Rural Child, which is a charity in Cape Town in South Africa that supports underprivileged children and families. It will then be refitted in South Africa to turn it into a soup kitchen.

Precycle Group managing director Taskeen Ahmed said: We are very excited about being a part of this global project one which has brought home the reality of globalisation to the everyday person.

The company works with charities such as Age Concern, Help the Aged, Barnados and Save the Children throughout England, Scotland and Wales collecting from 350,000 households and 4,000 commercial points on a weekly basis.
