A cartridge recycler from Devon is going head-to-head with businessmen at McDonalds and Clarks Shoes for the title of Franchisee of the Year.

Craig Collins, who operates Cartridge World stores in Exeter, Exmouth and Plymouth, is one of 11 finalists in the British Franchise Association event.

Cartridge World refills and remanufactures printer cartridges from 243 retail sites across the UK. Collins business is ranked in the top three performers within the chain, turning over more than £750,000 since he started it in 2002.

First prize in the October ceremony will be £5,000, put up by sponsor HSBC. The banks national franchise manager, Cathryn Hayes, said: As a leading bank in the sector, HSBC has supported many franchising success stories. Craig deserves success and recognition because he has adhered to the principles of business format franchising and made the most of a proven business formula.
