Recycling rewards Rochdale resident with new car

A Rochdale resident now owns a new Ford Fiesta after winning a War on Waste recycling competition.

Environment Portfolio Holder Councillor Wera Hobhouse presents Chris Platt with the keys to the car watched by his wife and Jaz Anand from OMC Ford.

Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council aimed to encourage recycling participation in residents through running a competition based around a five minute DVD about kerbside recycling made by students from a local college.

Entrants had to answer a question for entry into the draw.

Winner Christopher Platt said: “My recycling really has made a difference to me and thanks to Rochdale Council I can now move around the borough in a more environmentally friendly way.”
