ROCs announcement due

The Government is preparing to announce its decision on the Renewables Obligation Certificates banding review tomorrow (25 July), the Department of Energy and Climate Change has confirmed.

The Bloomberg news agency said Treasury and DECC ministers had patched up their differences over renewable energy subsidies.

Last week DECC said its response to a consultation on reducing subsidies had been delayed until autumn, prompting fears that some EfW projects could be put at risk.

The delay was reported to have been caused by a high-profile row over wind farm subsidies within in the Coalition Government.

Projects including anaerobic digestion, biomass and certain types of gasification and pyrolysis schemes, are entitled to the subsidy and any delay to the announcement of the details would be a blow to the sector.
