Saica Natur wins Lancashire paper and cardboard recycling contract

Spanish waste management company Saica Natur has secured a contract with Global Renewables Lancashire Operations to process 40,000 tonnes of paper and cardboard per year in nine Lancashire district councils.

Soft mixed kerbside collected paper and cardboard material will be delivered to one of five waste transfer stations or waste recovery parks operated by Global Renewables.

The material will be sorted and collected and transported either directly to Saica Natur’s £300m PM11 paper mill in Partington, or to Saica Natur’s facility in Audenshaw where it is baled and subsequently delivered to PM11 for processing.

Barry Elder, Global Renewables senior logistics and outputs general manager, said: “Saica Natur was awarded the contract as the bid demonstrated commercial best value and security of the materials being processed. In addition to this we were very impressed with the PM11 Partington mill.

“Using the facility in Audenshaw, Saica Natur has enabled the constant flow of the loose material from the collection network making sure it is quality checked, baled and ready for delivery to the PM11 facility.”
