Selby introduces new recycling service

Selby District Council based in north Yorkshire will introduce an alternate weekly collection service to its residents in October.

Under the new scheme, residents will have recycling materials collected one week and material that cannot be recycled collected the next.

There will also be new kerbside collections for plastic recycling.

Selby District Council environment board chair Chris Metcalfe said that introducing the new service will enable the council to spend our money more effectively, rather than paying more and more to dump waste.

The new collections will be operated by waste firm Enterprise Managed Services under a new contract.

Enterprise Managed Services operations manager Joe Kennedy said: Weve designed the new collection schedule to mirror, as far as possible, the existing weekly collections, so its as easy as possible for residents to use their new recycling services.
