Shanks has won planning approval to develop its construction and demolition waste MRF in Kettering, Northamptonshire, to sort commercial and industrial waste too.
A £7m investment will see the MRF’s capacity grow from 125,000 tonnes a year to 215,000 tonnes a year. It will create 25 new jobs at the plant.
Shanks UK managing director Ian Goodfellow said: “The new facility, which incorporates technology and experience from across the Shanks group, will further increase our ability to extract value from the material we handle. The location and capacity of the MRF will mean that customers from across the region benefit from increased recycling and diversion from landfill.”
