Sims brings Euro brands into one

All of Sims Groups European recycling activities are being pulled together into one brand.
In the UK the firm operates under the Sims Recycling Group brand and now all of its European operations will also use this name.

The firm has also announced the acquisition of the USAs largest electronics recycler United Recycling Industries (URI) and the electronics recycling assets of Noranda recycling Inc. Sims Group says that this makes it the largest electronics recycler in the world.

Sims Recycling Solutions global operations managing director Graham Davy said: Our infrastructure in Europe has facilitated our global expansion strategy. Sims entered the US e-scrap market in 2003 to develop its understanding of the key dynamics and players and we have chosen the URI and Noranda end of life recycling assets to complement our core competencies in the full range of electronic recycling services.

Sims Recycling Solutions now offers services for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment including asset recovery services, plastics separation, toner and Cathode Ray Tube glass recycling. Its acquisitions also add the capability for smelting and refining recovered metals.
