Sims Recycling Solutions buys US e-scrap recycler

Sims Recycling Solutions (SRS), the electrical scrap division of Sims Metal Management, has acquired a leading US asset recovery and e-scrap recycler.

Global Investment Recovery (GIR) is the latest purchase by Sims, which hopes to expand its American electronics recycling and asset recovery business in the end-of-life information technology sector.

Asset recovery is when equipment can no longer be redeployed and materials can be extracted
to be reused or sold.

GIR was founded in 1992 recycles end-of-life electronics equipment. It also offers asset management services including testing, repair, and re-use, with operating facilities in Florida, South Carolina, Nevada, Louisiana and Arizona.

Sims Recycling Solutions chief executive officer Graham Davy said: This is a further transformational strategic development in the key US market place. We are delighted to announce this acquisition and are enthused by the further opportunities that working with the experienced GIR management team will bring. These opportunities will enable our business to provide even more effective solutions for the American and global market place.
