SITA expands business in Northern Ireland

SITA UK , has acquired one of Northern Ireland s largest recycling and waste management companies, Wilson Waste Management. It is SITA UK s second acquisition in recent weeks, following its purchase of metal recycler Easco in May 2007.

Wilson Waste Management was founded by John Wilson in 1990 to collect waste paper.

It had a turnover of £7 million in 2006, has 1,700 customers and employs 70 people across two sites in Belfast .

A key feature of the business is that around 50% of the material collected is recycled, which is consistent with SITA
UK s focus on developing its recycling expertise.

SITA
UK industrial and commercial operations director David Palmer-Jones said: The acquisition of Wilson forms part of our strategy to increase our recycling capability and underlines our commitment to having a long-term presence in Northern Ireland .

The company has operated in Northern Ireland for seven years and this major growth market offers many opportunities. Buying Wilson gives us a strong customer base, good facilities and, importantly, the employees neededto realise these opportunities."
