SITA UK launches hazardous waste service

SITA UK has launched a service to make hazardous waste disposal quick and easy for customers.

It helps people to dispose of fluorescent tubes, lead acid batteries, sodium lamps, toner cartridges and oil filters through a tailored collection service.

SITA UK industrial and commercial operations director Peter Hathaway said: "SITA UK are one of the first waste management companies to offer this type of hazardous waste collection on a national basis.

"We are able to provide a service which enables our customers to meet their obligations under the new legislation with little inconvenience to their established working practices.

"This obviously makes it easy for everyone and we believe that this is exactly what the market needed to accommodate these legislative changes."

Since 16 July, businesses in the UK have had to register with the Environment Agency under the new Hazardous Waste regulations if they produce more than 200kg of hazardous waste per annum.
