Skanska appointed for Bradford PFI scheme

A Skanska/Aecom partnership has been named preferred bidder for the Bradford and Calderdale waste treatment PFI project.

The joint venture will undertake the engineering, procurement and construction of the £170m facility in Bradford.

Once complete, Waste Recycling Group will operate the site on a 25-year contract with the Bradford and Calderdale Waste Partnership.

The resource recovery facility will process all residual waste from Bradford and Calderdale, recovering all recyclable materials and using the remainder for energy recovery.

Skanska said in a statement that it would announce its investment in the project “at financial close, which is expected to be reached later this year”.
