Skip hire 'eBay' will join up businesses

A one-stop shop for skips is to be launched in June that will connect skip companies to businesses and allow them to bid for jobs.

The website www.skiptrips.com will allow firms to differentiate their services by detailing their own company profile. Customers enter their requirements into the site and skip companies are notified and given the option to provide a quote for the work.

Managing director of SkipTrips Edward Fanshawe said the idea developed while working alongside waste managers and construction companies.

He said: “There are more than 30 million people online every day in the UK and yet the only way to find a skip is to work through a phone book, calling skip companies to compare prices, quality, credentials and services.

“From a large construction company requiring hundreds of skips with multiple waste streams, to a single household wanting a skip to clear out a garage, SkipTrips covers the lot.”

He argued that the site will save users on sales and marketing. Access is 24/7 and skip companies can register for free.

Once a job is completed, customers can give feedback on the skip hire firms, meaning that they can build up an online reputation.
