Straight forms materials handling division

Container supplier Straight has formed a new materials handling division to enable the Leeds-based supplier to offer a wide range of container solutions to UK and European markets.

This will include plastic pallets, supply chain containers and new crates and baskets for the bakery, beverage and dairy sectors. Straight estimates the UK market to be worth in excess of £80 million per annum.

Straight is partnering Los Angeles company Rehrig Pacific, a world-leading manufacturer of reusable plastic crates and pallets for the food and beverages markets. Rehrig has more than 90 years experience designing and manufacturing products for global companies such as CHEP, Wal-Mart, Hays Logistics, Anheuser-Busch and both Coca-Cola and Pepsi Cola bottlers.

Chief executive Jonathan Straight said: Recent consolidation in the UK container market has left many customers without any real choice. We aim to fill the gap. By working with a world-leading player we can hit the ground running, with an off-the-shelf range and the ability to create new products very quickly.
