Takeover gets EC OK

The European Commission has cleared a US takeover of Germany's Green Dot recycling scheme.
It has approved the 100% acquisition of Der Grüne Punkt Duales System Deutschland (DSD Germany) by Deutsche Umwelt Investment AG (DUI Germany), itself owned by US investment company Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P (KKR).
It has bought control from around 500 manufacturers and retailers who promise via the scheme to take back and suitably recycle their packaging. This entitles them to use The Green Dot trademark. Brussels fast-tracked the deal and has imposed no conditions on the sale to KKR, which owns 20 companies worldwide, including three in Germany.
