Telford start-up angers council

A business offering private refuse collections to Telford residents has been slammed by its local

authority as a retrograde step for the towns recycling rates.

New company Telford Waste started by local entrepreneur Mandy Gregory will collect

standard household waste in black sacks and send it to

landfill on the weeks that Telford and Wrekin Borough Council operate only green waste and kerbside collections.

This will cost residents who use the service £3 per week.

A council spokesman said: Were not too chuffed. Its not going to do our recycling targets any help whatsoever.
