Ten more containers return to UK from Brazil

A further ten containers of the allegedly hazardous waste are to arrive back in the UK today (25 August) from Brazil, bringing the total number returned to 81.

On 21 August, 71 containers of the 89 said to have been illegally exported to Brazil were repatriated. (see MRW story)

A further ten are expected to arrive in the port of Felixstowe at lunchtime aboard the Safmarine Nile. They will join the 71 containers, which are being stored at a secure facility near to the port. All of the containers are to be fumigated before the Environment Agency carries out a full inspection.

The remaining eight containers yet to be returned are currently being packed by Brazilian local authorities to be brought back at a later date.
