Tesco launches celebrity-packed advert to promote bag reuse

Tesco today launched its star-studded advertising campaign to get people to use fewer plastic bags and promote its new green points scheme for those who do not take new plastic bags at checkout.

The multimillion pound campaign features celebrities including magician Paul Daniels, comedian Ronnie Corbett, gardener Alan Titchmarsh, actress Martine McCutcheon and jockey Frankie Dettori.

In the advert the celebrities can all be seen using alternatives to plastic bags to carry their shopping home. Images of Corbett using a golf bag, Titchmarsh a wheelbarrow and McCutcheon a handbag, are accompanied by a voiceover which says: You can use whatever you want instead, were not too fussed.

The advert accompanies the nationwide launch of the supermarkets plastic bag reduction initiative, after it pledged to cut the number of bags it gives out by 25% over the next two years.
