Tim's world of waste

Zany refuse collector Tim Byrne thinks modern life is rubbish - to the extent that he has been obsessed with waste management since he was three.
The 25-year-old (pictured, far right) goes on holidays across Europe and gets up in the middle of the night to go out with local waste collection crews.
When he went to Kefalonia recently, he got up at 3am to join his Greek colleagues on their rounds. He's also checked out waste collection in Spain and Italy.
And the passionate binman has 273 die-cast models and thousands of photographs of refuse vehicles, as well as a collection of uniforms from different waste crews across the UK and Europe.
"Waste management is my life," he told MRW this week. "Everything revolves around it."
It all started when Tim was a toddler and used to watch collection vehicles picking up industrial waste near his grandparents' house in the Black Country.
Having given up a sales career, he now works for Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council doing the thing he loves - collecting waste.
