TV star's tortoise survives MRF

Theres a tortoise on the line, was the shout as a pet was rescued after surviving the rotating spikes of a bag splitter and a glass crusher.

The 55-year-old reptile, Tom, was found at Cardiff Councils material recycling facility after disappearing five weeks ago.

His owner, Gavin and Stacey star Ruth Jones had mounted a campaign to find him after he went missing.

Jones said: I would like to thank all of the staff at the recycling depot at Lamby Way for saving Tom. We really thought we had lost him and the family is relieved to have him back home.
