A UK-based waste separator and shredder specialist has been bought by European waste equipment supplier Vecoplan as part of expansion plans. Leeds-based Almac had previously provided maintenance services for Vecoplan equipment customers in the UK.
Machinery includes shredders, conveyers, screeners and chipping equipment which process plastics, paper, metals and wood.
Vecoplan said the purchase was a bid to unite its wood and biomass work following an amazing year of growth and development.
The acquisition of Almacs substantial resources will enable Vecoplan to roll out a spares and maintenance service across the UK and Ireland. It also cements the companys position as a major player in the waste and recycling equipment market, according to a company statement.
Vecoplan managing director Jerry Quickenden said: It is most important to us that our clients have continuity of production and we endeavour to maintain the integrity of their equipment at all times. The acquisition of Almac will allow us to deliver these very high levels of service to an ever increasing number of clients.
