Update on discovery of dead baby

The body of a newborn baby found at a materials recycling facility in Peterborough was a girl and originated from Worcestershire, police said.

A worker at the facility made the discovery. The site is owned by Peterborough City Council and is run by Viridor Waste Management.

A Cambridgeshire police spokesman said: Following inquiries by detectives the body is most likely to originate from Worcestershire. As a result investigations have been passed onto West Mercia Constabulary. Investigations have continued at the scene of discovery today.
Police said the body was found among recyclable rubbish at the plant.
