By making this acquisition Veolia hopes to expand its commercial and recycling infrastructure in the region and develop new business.
The acquisition includes a 2.5-acre site with a licensed waste transfer station and the firm has recently acquired Bury-based C&C Recycling in north west England.
Shanks Waste Management at Canada Dock provides commercial collection and recycling services to a client base which is seeking an increasing range of recycling services.
Veolia Environmental Services chief executive officer Jean Dominique Mallet said: This acquisition further increases our services to customers in the north west and means businesses in Merseyside will have access to a wider range of commercial recycling services. The location complements our other service centres in the area and means we will be well placed for business expansion.
