Veolia acquires Shanks waste business in Liverpool

Waste management firm Veolia Environmental Services has announced the acquisition of the Liverpool commercial business of Shanks Waste Management, based at Canada Dock.

By making this acquisition Veolia hopes to expand its commercial and recycling infrastructure in the region and develop new business.

The acquisition includes a 2.5-acre site with a licensed waste transfer station and the firm has recently acquired Bury-based C&C Recycling in north west England.

Shanks Waste Management at Canada Dock provides commercial collection and recycling services to a client base which is seeking an increasing range of recycling services.

Veolia Environmental Services chief executive officer Jean Dominique Mallet said: This acquisition further increases our services to customers in the north west and means businesses in Merseyside will have access to a wider range of commercial recycling services.  The location complements our other service centres in the area and means we will be well placed for business expansion.
