Verdant helps secure awards

The Verdant Group has helped secure some prestigious awards, including Britain in Bloom for its local authority customers.

The municipal services contractor has helped Warwick District Council secure a coveted Britain in Bloom silver gilt award for Leamington Spa's old town area.

Verdant business manager Kevin Hancock said: "Our street cleansing crews were really pleased to see their work recognised by this award. The cleanliness and appearance of local streets all play their part."

A coveted Green Flag award, which recognises excellence in parks management, has also been given to Higginson Park in Marlow.

Wycombe District Council was given the honour for the general standard of the 23-acre site.

Verdant business manager Jason Eldridge said: "Lots of heavy vehicles, fairground equipment, tents, barbecues and 10,000 visitors a day had all left their mark and their litter in the park. It also shows what can be achieved when a contractor works in real partnership with its local authority."

Verdant was also nominated for the Best Commitment to Health and Safety Practices at the Vehicle and Plant Awards 2005.
