VIDEO REPORT: Jane Horrocks launches Christmas card appeal - UPDATE

Andrea Height reports on the Recycle Now and Woodland Trust Christmas Card recycling scheme launched by actress Jane Horrocks.

Actress and keen recycler Jane Horrocks has teamed up with national recycling campaign Recycle Now to officially launch the annual Woodland Trust Christmas Card recycling scheme.

This year the campaign has set itself a target of recycling 90 million cards, aiming to beat last years record of recycling 82 million cards.

More than one billion cards get sent in the UK at Christmas and we want to recycle at least 90 million of them. Funds raised through this scheme will help the Woodland Trust save woods and trees and help cut down the amount of waste that traditionally gets binned at this time of year, Horrocks said.

Until the end of January the public will be able to recycle their Christmas cards at participating WHSmith, Tesco and TKMaxx stores nationwide. Tescos home delivery service will also be taking part in the scheme.
