Waste management company Viridor has acquired Adapt Recycling, as part of wider expansion plans.
Bury based Adapt Recycling, which employs 20 staff and handles around 25,000 tonnes of commingled plastics, cans and glass per annum, as well as baling some grades of mixed paper.
The company will now trade as Viridor Waste (Adapt) Ltd in Viridor’s Northern region.
Viridor North director Mark Burrows Smith said: “The UK’s waste strategies are demanding ever-increasing levels of recycling to meet waste targets. The Greater Manchester region is a key operational area in Viridor’s business and the acquisition of Adapt Recycling in Bury will strengthen our position as a leading operator in the region.”
The acquisition comes as part of Viridor’s parent company, Pennon Group’s, strategy of expanding in waste management services, particularly in recycling, waste treatment and disposal.
