Viridor buys out recycling company for £15.7m

Milton Keynes-based Community Waste Recycling has been acquired by waste giant Viridor.

Community Waste Recycling operates MRFs in Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire and Oxfordshire and processes some 90,000 tonnes of materials a year. It employs 69 staff and uses 80 agency staff.

Last year the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management listed Community Waste Recycling as the third fastest growing company in the recycling sector.

Graham Warren, Viridor south east regional director, said there was a “vital need” for Viridor to increase its recycling and resource management levels across the UK.

He added: “Community Waste Recycling has an excellent track record in providing essential recycling services to businesses and councils in its operating areas.”

Bruce Terrell, Community Waste Recycling managing director said: “Becoming part of Viridor will present good opportunities for employees, customers, suppliers and all other stakeholders in the business.”
